After 10 seasons, “Supernatural” still manages to find innovative ways to keep fans intrigued and amused. In Season 11, The CW show brought God’s sister Amara aka Darkness (Emily Swallow) to Earth once again because the Winchester brothers put each other before the rest of the world.

Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) learned that the very Fallen Angel they put in prison in Hell may be the answer to defeating Amara. Sam went to see his former prison-mate Lucifer (Mark Pellegrino) to seek his help in this regard, but soon learnt the Devil would not help him unless Sam offered his body for rent.

Sam refused, but his dear Angel friend Castiel (Misha Collins), who had arrived at the prison with Dean to save him from Lucifer, offered his own body as the Devil’s meat suit. However, the Winchesters did not know Castiel was now, as fans put it, Casifer — Lucifer inside Castiel’s body. He managed to fool the brothers in Season 11 Episode 11 “Into the Mystic” as well.

From the promos, it looks like the upcoming “Don’t You Forget About Me” is going to be a filler episode. It will see the return of fan-favourites Sherriff Jody Mills (Kim Rhodes) and Claire Novak (Kathryn Newton). As fans know, Claire is the daughter of Jimmy Novak, the man whose body Castiel is using as his meat suit.

Although she was very angry at the world, and especially Castiel, for what happened to her parents, she is now being raised by Jody, a trusted friend of the Winchesters. She has worked through her rage, and it looks like she is now a hunter, and has called Sam and Dean to take care of some monsters.

“Don’t You Forget About Me” seems to be a distraction from the Darkness/ Lucifer storyline, but if Claire and “Casifer” were to meet in the episode, the truth might come out. On the other hand, it is too early in the season for the Winchesters to be bombarded with yet another supernatural being hell-bent on destroying Earth, because that is exactly what Lucifer would do once he defeats Darkness.

Meanwhile, Crowley’s (Mark A Sheppard) fate remains a mystery. He learnt Lucifer was in Castiel’s body right before he watched his mother get killed by “Casifer”. Most fans theorise he is locked up in Hell by Lucifer. However, it would make more sense if he were working for Lucifer and doing his bidding, while the Devil himself looks for ways to defeat Amara.
