The final blind audition of “The Voice UK” finished on a spectacular note as the 18 acts in the audition consisted of some of the most interesting and bizarre contestants that included a footballer’s wedding singer and a royal girlfriend, who competed against each other for the final seven spaces on the coaches’ teams.
The auditions opened with aerobics instructor Lisa Wallace singing Donna Summer’s “Last Dance” from “Thank God It’s Friday” – a 1978 movie in which the singer co-starred with Jeff Goldblum and Debra Winger.
Faith Nelson opted for Paloma Faith over Ricky Wilson, ensuring that Paloma was the first coach to complete her team. Paloma was the first coach to gain her first team member, beating the other coaches to recruit Beth Morris with first blind auditions of this year’s “The Voice UK.”
Another contestant, Paul Pashley (performed Arctic Money’s I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor) has previously sung at Wayne and Coleen Rooney’s wedding.
Dave Barnes, an army man, convinced Ricky to take him in with his version of “When a Man Loves a Woman” – a song by Percy Sledge that made it to number four in 1966 and number two in 1987 when it was used in a Levi’s commercial.
The Mexican Brothers sang Ritchie Valens’ “La Bamba” and “Twist and Shout” by Phil Medley and Bert Bernes. The song has since been covered by several artists, including The Beatles on their first album “Please Please Me” (1963), as well as The Tremeloes in 1962 and The Who in 1970 and 1984.
Rose Faquahar, a former girlfriend of Prince William, performed “Anyone Who Had a Heart” by Cilla Black. Afterwards, she sang “You’re My World” by Valerie Bacon.” Unfortunately, none of the auditions were successful.
In the final act, Colleen Gormley finished last in will.i.am’s team with her version of “When You Say Nothing At All,” a country song originally sung by Keith Whitley in 1988.
