Taylor Swift is back in news and this time it’s not for her relationship with Calvin Harris, but for her unrecognisable looks on the cover of Vogue, and the revelations she has made about how she has disappointed her mother, wedding plans with the Scottish DJ, her past relationships, and her girl squad.
The “1989” hitmaker was on her way to her hometown of Wyomissing, Pennsylvania, to attend the wedding of her childhood friend Britany Maack as the maid of honour, when she spoke to the interviewer from Vogue.
Among the many interesting revelations that the singer made, the fascinating one was where the “New Romantics” singer confessed that her mother actually wanted her to be a horseback rider, but she disappointed her by choosing a singing career.
“That was kind of my mom’s thing. She really wanted me to be a horseback rider, and I did it competitively until I worked up the nerve at age twelve to tell her I didn’t really love it like she loved it,” Swift shared.
“I just wanted to make music and do theatre. So I’ve been a big disappointment,” Swift confessed.
Well, given that the “Shake it Off” singer was attending a wedding, the interviewer couldn’t help but ask about her wedding plans with Harris. She was asked, now that the couple has been dating for over a year, what’s next in store? To this, Swift replied: “I’m just taking things as they come. I’m in a magical relationship right now. And of course I want it to be ours, and low-key … this is the one thing that’s been mine about my personal life.”
There’s no denial that the “Wildest Dreams” singer has been in some high-profile relationships, including with Jake Gyllenhaal, Harry Styles, Taylor Launter and Joe Jonas, but all these relationships, the singer admitted, put her off the dating scene.
“You know, I went out on a normal amount of dates in my early 20s, and I got absolutely slaughtered for it. And it took a lot of hard work and altering my decision-making. I didn’t date for two and a half years. Should I have had to do that? No,” the singer admitted.
And after all the men drama, Swift moved on to create a girl squad with some of her closest girl pals, but even that has always been under the scanner. “I’ve had people say really hurtful things about me, and so I’ve kind of learned how to gauge it: This is, like, low-to-medium-level hurtful,” she said.
But, all these rumours and stories have only made Swift stronger and the singer said that she has now learnt the trick to work her way around all this.
“There are a lot of really easy ways to dispel rumours. If they say you are pregnant, all you have to do is continue to not be pregnant and not have a baby. If the rumour is that you have fake friendships, all you have to do is continue to be there for each other. And when we’re all friends in fifteen years and raising our kids together, maybe somebody will look back and go, ‘That was kind of ridiculous what we said about Taylor and her friends,’ ” Swift explained.
Well, it sounds like Swift has made it very clear that she has learnt it the harder way.
