Saif Ali Khan has reportedly been roped in for the Hindi remake of Hollywood movie “Chef.” The actor is currently prepping for the role that will present him as a chef, and the film will be directed by “Airlift” director Raja Krishna Menon, according to the Times of India.

Earlier there were reports that Akshay Kumar will play the lead in the Hindi adaptation of “Chef,” but the latest report has confirmed that Saif has been finalised for the role that was originally played by Jon Favreau.

Directed by Jon himself, “Chef” is an emotional comedy drama that was well received by the critics and was also a box office success. Now, Raja Krishna Menon is ready to serve the Hindi remake of “Chef” through Saif.

Akshay was said to be considered for the role, as the director has a good rapport with the “Airlift” actor. “The makers of the film are planning on replacing Saif with Akshay, thanks to his working chemistry with Raja Krishna Menon that was evident in ‘Airlift.’ Besides this, Akshay is also a better fit for the role as compared to Saif, given that Akshay once was a cook in Bangkok,” Bollywood Hungama had quoted a source as saying. However, the report had also quoted an official spokesperson of Abundantia Entertainment, who had denied the buzz of Akshay replacing Saif.

The shooting for the Hindi remake of “Chef” will begin in September this year as the film is currently in its scripting stage, according to TOI. Saif, who is currently shooting for Vishal Bhardwaj’s “Rangoon,” is already undergoing training for his next to learn the nuances of a professional chef. The movie will be produced by Bhushan Kumar and Vikram Malhotra.
