Actor Akkineni Nagarjuna has decided to do a sequel to his blockbuster movie “Soggade Chinni Nayana” (SCN) and he has registered “Bangarraju” for the title of the sequel.
“Soggade Chinni Nayana” was made on a budget of Rs 20 crore and its theatrical rights were sold for 18 crore. The movie has grossed over Rs 70 crore at the worldwide box office and earned Rs 45 crore for its distributors. The debutante Kalyan Krishna-directed supernatural drama film has become the highest-grossing movie in the career of Nagarjuna.
The surprising fact is that the movie was released with three other big ticket projects like “Nannaku Prematho,” “Dictator” and “Express Raja.” The movie emerged as the bigges grosser among all the flicks released at this year’s Sankranti.
“Soggade Chinni Nayana” is about a widow seeking the help of her husband’s spirit to save her son’s marriage. Nagarjuna has played dual roles as Cardiologist Ram Mohan and Bangarraju in the movie. His performance as Bangarraju is the highlight as well as the main factor for the success of the film.
The character Bagarraju has become synonymous with “Soggade Chinni Nayana.” Hence, the actor-cum-producer has now reportedly registered the title “Bagarraju” for the sequel to “Soggade Chinni Nayana.” He is once again teaming up with Kalyan Krishna for the film. “The character became so popular because of director Kalyan. He will work on the sequel too,” Nag told the Deccan Chronicle.
In addition to the sequel, Nagarjuna has two other projects, Oopiri (Thozha in Tamil), Missile and an untitled film, coming up. The actor will be seen playing the role of Hathiram Baba in the untitled movie, which is going to be Nag’s next devotional movie after “Shirdi Sai,” “Sri Ramadasu” and “Annamayya.”
Nagarjuna will soon start shooting for the devotional movie about Hathiram Baba. “The film will start in April or May. We want to shoot at a hill station. Hathiram Baba was a strong devotee of Lord Balaji and the script work is almost complete,” the DC quoted the actor as saying.
