The sudden demise of South Indian actor-singer Kalabhavan Mani came as a shock for the entire entertainment industry, and created a void in the mind of all his fans and colleagues. The late actor’s only daughter Sreelakshmi has now proved she, too, also is a fighter like her father: She appeared for the Central Board of Secondary Education’s (CBSE) Class 10 exam just days after Mani’s demise.
South Indian actress Kushb00 Sunder has praised the 15-year-old for appearing for the board exam just two days after the cremation of her father. “#KalabhavanMani’s daughter is appearing 4 her exams jus days aftr his demise #AllthebestSriLakshmi..a strong girl at heart..kudos 2 her, [sic]” wrote Kushboo on her social media page. Sreelakshmi wrote the CBSE Hindi exam at Saraswathi Vidyaniketan in Perambra Wednesday, March 9.
Like her father, Sreelakshmi has proved her mettle at imitating many famous personalities, and performed on stage with Mani many times. She has been praised for imitating actors Mohanlal, Suresh Gopi, politicians VS Achuthanandan and late K Karunakaran, among others.
Meanwhile, Mani, who began his career in the industry as a mimicry artiste, made his acting debut in the Malayalam movie “Aksharam” in 1995 as an auto-driver. He was noticed in Mollywood for his performance in Dileep-Manju Warrier-starrer “Sallapam” in 1996, and had acted in more than 200 movies in all the South Indian languages. The actor passed away March 6 at the age of 45 due to liver-related ailments at a private hospital in Kochi.
