“Game of Thrones” fans rejoiced on Sunday night when Melisandre (Carice van Houten) brought Jon Snow (Kit Harington) back to life. The final scene from Season 6 episode 2, titled “Home,” saw her washing his body and snipping away locks of his hair to perform the resurrection spell.

Although the episode ended with a dejected Melisandre leaving the room unaware that her spell had worked, fans saw Jon Snow opening his eyes before the screen went blank.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly about the final scene from Sunday’s episode, van Houten said she would have washed Harington’s body at least 50 times. “It took forever to resurrect him, forever!” said van Houten. “It was such an important scene, we shot it from so many angles. I think I washed his body 50 times. There would be a lot of people who would be very jealous, including my mother and sister. I was joking about that with him – ‘if only my mother could see this’ – and he loved that.”

Harington called the experience “very weird, like a teenage boy’s wet dream – you’re laying there naked and Carice van Houten is washing you.”

The actor also revealed that his character would be sporting a new hairstyle in the coming episodes. “We cut it much shorter for this season, and do a different hairstyle this season and put it up in a bun,” Harington said.

Harington’s hair was one of the clues to his character being alive on the HBO fantasy series based on George RR Martin’s “A Song of Ice and Fire” series. The actor had previously stated that he would cut off his long locks only once he left the show, but what fans failed to notice is that the actor had indeed shortened his hair.

“Nobody’s noticed I’ve had short hair,” Harington added. “We’ve chopped most of it off, and people were like, ‘Oh look, he’s still got long hair.'”

“Game of Thrones” airs Sundays on HBO. The next episode is titled “Oathbreaker.”
