Fantasy drama “The Jungle Book” has shown no signs of slowing down at the Indian box office. From just the Indian market, “The Jungle Book” has minted Rs. 118.72 crore and is now set to become the highest grosser in the country.

“The Jungle Book” is all set to beat Bollywood’s highest grosser “Airlift,” starring Akshay Kumar. “Airlift” accumulated Rs. 128.1 crore, which will soon be shattered by the American fantasy drama.

“#TheJungleBook [Week 2] Fri 8.02 cr, Sat 8.51 cr, Sun 10.67 cr, Mon 5.09 cr, Tue 6.37 cr, Wed 5.02 cr. Total: ₹ 118.72 cr nett. BLOCKBUSTER!” trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.

This is probably the first Hollywood movie to have minted Rs. 118.72 crore, and is on the way to beat a Bollywood movie’s record in India. The fantasy drama, starring Neel Sethi, has been doing well in India since its release. The film entered its second-week run on a strong note and is now the second highest grosser of 2016.

“The performance of the Hindi language version of the movie has been truly exceptional. It was so important for us to mount this movie in the best possible way as the story has such a legacy in our country,” Amrita Pandey, VP – Studios, Disney India, told the Economic Times.

The movie, which was dubbed in four languages — English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu — has surpassed the India collections of Hollywood movie “Fast & Furious 7,” which minted Rs. 108 crore last year. Directed by Jon Favreau, “The Jungle Book” is the biggest Hollywood grosser in India.
