Jon Favreau directorial fantasy drama “The Jungle Book” continues its victory run at the Indian box office. After becoming the biggest grosser of 2016 in India, the 3D live-action computer animated film is now set to beat the movie records of Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan’s films.

“#TheJungleBook [Week 3] Fri 3.58 cr, Sat 6.65 cr, Sun 8.69 cr, Mon 2.92 cr. Total: ₹ 144.89 cr nett. India biz. ALL TIME BLOCKBUSTER!” trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.

“The Jungle Book” posted the best third weekend total in India this year with Rs. 18.92 crore. In 17 days, “The Jungle Book” raked in Rs. 144.89 crore, which makes it the 18th biggest all-time grosser in India. The film is now set to beat the records of Shah Rukh Khan’s “Dilwale” and Salman Khan’s “Bodyguard.”

“Dilwale” and “Bodyguard” minted Rs. 148 crore in their lifetime run, and to beat both the movie records, “The Jungle Book” requires Rs. 4 crore more. Looking at its third-week trend, the film should beat “Dilwale” and “Bodyguard” by the end of its third week. Also, the film, which is now an all time blockbuster hit in India, should touch Rs. 150 crore mark by the fourth weekend.

Meanwhile, the film continues to entertain the audience at the North American and Chinese box offices. The film has grossed $191.5 million from the North American box office until its second weekend and from across the world, it minted $528 million.

“‘The Jungle Book’ continues to wow audiences across the board and has enjoyed a perfect combination of great reviews, solid social media buzz and good old-fashioned word of mouth,” IANS quoted movie industry analyst Paul Dergarabedian as saying.
