Even though Warner Bros’ latest DC movie “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” has been performing well on the box office across the world, internet is full of speculations regarding what could have happened if an entirely different cast was included in the movie.
One of such speculations state that Bryan Cranston, who played the iconic character of Walter White in AMC’s crime drama series “Breaking Bad,” would have been a better choice to play the role of Lex Luthor in “Dawn of Justice.”
However, fans would surely be shocked to learn Zack Snyder has confirmed that Cranston was once considered to play the antagonist in the movie. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, he said that Cranston was one of the “possible candidates to play the film’s big bad.”
“We talked about the usual suspects that you would imagine; any actor who has been bald, probably. Bryan Cranston would have been great, right? And by the way, he’s an amazing actor. Can you imagine how different the movie would be?” Snyder said.
According to Cinema Blend, after playing the character of one of the most brilliant scientifically minded villains of all time in “Breaking Bad,” and also because of being a natural bald, Bryan Cranston would have made up for a perfect Lex Luthor.
In “Breaking Bad,” the character of Walter White was a former school teacher who became a crystal-meth manufacturer and dealer after a series of unfortunate events.
Given that how Cranston portrayed the ruthless yet calm personality of White on screen, he would have portrayed the character of Lex Luthor rather brilliantly as it is very similar, if not same, to Walter White’s character.
Jesse Eisenberg’s portrayal of Lex Luthor has been met with lukewarm response from the fans. However, one could only wonder how the story could have taken shape if Bryan Cranston had played the role instead.
