Akshay Kumar is having a great run, thanks to “Airlift.” The star has been bagging projects like no other and has quite a few releases lined up. The Hindi remake of “Chef” might be one of them, in which he may replace Saif Ali Khan.
“The makers of the film are planning on replacing Saif with Akshay, thanks to his working chemistry with Raja Krishna Menon that was evident in Airlift. Besides this, Akshay is also a better fit for the role as compared to Saif, given that Akshay once was a cook in Bangkok,” a source told Bollywood Hungama.
The Hollywood film, starring John Favreau, has an interesting storyline, which does not require much tweaking if and when the makers decide it to rehash it for the Indian audiences. Carl Casper (Favreau) quits his job as a top chef in one of Los Angeles’ posh restaurant and launches his own food truck.
In other news, Akshay is busy with “Rustom”, Tinu Suresh Desai’s thriller set in the 50s, after which he begins “Robot 2” alongside Rajinikanth. “Namastey England” is one film director Vipul Shah wishes to kick-start once the star is done with the other two.
Floating reports suggest, Akshay has a few other unconfirmed projects that have been on the anvil for quite some time now and that he’ll take a call soon based on dates available in his calendar. “Awara Paagal Deewana 2” and “Welcome 3” are two such films.
There’s been no update on “Welcome 3”, but Vidyut Jammwal gave a mild hint about him teaming up with Akshay for “Awara Paagal Deewana 2.” Talking to Catch News, he said he loved the script and wouldn’t miss an opportunity to work with the slightly senior actor.
“Nothing is finalised about Awara Paagal Deewana 2, I have heard the script and we are just talking about what should be done and what should not be done. I am excited about the fact that it is a great script,” he further elaborated.
