Thala Ajith’s “Yennai Arindhaal” celebrates its first anniversary on Friday, 5 February. The Tamil movie was written and directed by Gautham Menon and was one of the biggest hits of Kollywood in 2015.

Fans of Ajith are celebrating the occasion by sharing their fond memories of watching the movie on the first day. On social networking sites, many are revealing their favourite sequences and punchlines mouthed by their favourite actor in the film.

“Yennai Arindhaal” was the final instalment of Gautham Menon’s cop trilogy after “Kaakha Kaakha” and “Vettayadu Vilayadu”. The film had Trisha Krishnan and Anushka Shetty as the female leads, and Arjun Vijay had played a baddie. It had Harris Jayaraj’s music, Dan Macarthur’s cinematography and Anthony’s editing.

After being postponed a few times, “Yennai Arindhaal” was released to huge expectations on 5 February, 2015. The film was made with the budget of Rs 50 crore and went on to make Rs 78 crore at the worldwide box office.

The makers of “Yennai Arindhaal” had also earned Rs 14 crore and Rs 1.5 crore by selling the satellite and audio rights, respectively, of the Tamil film, as per Andhra Box Office. Hence, the movie had turned out to be a profitable venture for producer AM Rathnam.

“Yennai Arindhaal” was not a usual masala-entertainer, but rather the film made in Gautham Menon’s style, where the characters and the story, instead of mass-entertainment elements, were given prime importance. The movie was received well by urban cine-goers while it did not live up to the expectations of the masses.

The Tamil film was appreciated chiefly for Ajith’s electrifying presence, Arun Vijay’s brilliant performance as a baddie, Trisha’s impressive acting and the decent storyline.
