Actor Nassar has established himself in the film industries of all the South Indian languages as well as Bollywood. The acclaimed actor also has a few English films, including those made in Hollywood and India, to his credit. However, he admits that he feels the most comfortable working in Malayalam movies.
The actor revealed his love towards Kerala and Malayalam films while attending the celebration of100 days of Dulquer Salmaan‘s “Charlie,” in which Nassar had a cameo appearance as a magician. “I feel very comfortable while acting in Malayalam films. I don’t repeat this same dialogue while attending any Telugu or Kannada movie event. I have learnt a lot from Malayalam movies,” Nassar said during the event that took places at IMA House in Kochi on April 20.
The actor also narrated how he became a part of the Martin Prakkat-directed movie, even though it was a guest appearance. “When Martin requested me to play the role of a magician in ‘Charlie,’ I didn’t even understand that part as well as the movie. It appeared as a total magic to me and I thought of not doing it. Later, my third son heard about the lead actor of the film and it was he who compelled me to be part of the movie saying: ‘Dad, its Dulquer Salmaan movie. Please accept the role’,” the “Olympian Anthony Adam” actor said during the star-studded event.
The veteran actor, who requested extra time to speak during the function, also recalled the day he watched the Malayalam movie “Kodiyettam,” which was released in 1977. “I was amazed by the performance of Bharath Gopi in Adoor Gopalakrishnan’s “Kodiyettam. The best director I have ever worked with is Bharathan, and I am happy to say this in front of the late legendary director’s wife KPAC Lalitha,” Nassar said. “He is definitely a master. Also I will say that the best movie I have acted in Malayalam is ‘Ghazal,’ directed by Kamal.
Nassar also expressed his happiness in visiting Kerala each time for its good tea and fish delicacies. “Finally, I thank my brother Mammooka. Sir, you made the day great,” Nassar thanked the megastar, who was also attending the celebration of the success of “Charlie” in Kochi.
